WASHINGTON - The White House says that the United States is not done with strikes in the Middle East, and "will take further action" against Iranian-backed militants in the region. An attack within Iran itself, although unlikely, has not been officially ruled out.
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that U.S. President Joe Biden “will do what he thinks needs to be done".
He added that "if you see more attacks" on U.S. soldiers or merchant vessels in the region, "you'll see more responses" he said.
He also said that the United States will try to keep from expanding the war in the region as it carries out responses to attacks on American forces by Iranian proxies.
