Washington Calls Russian Deployment Of Tactical Nukes To Belarus "Irresponsible Behavior"
U.S. State Department: “The latest example of irresponsible behavior that we have seen from Russia since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine over a year ago".
WASHINGTON - In the first deployment of tactical nuclear weapons outside of Russian territory since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia’s decision to deploy tactical nukes in Belarus resulted in condemnation from the United States, calling the move “irresponsible behavior” on Russia’s part.
“The latest example of irresponsible behavior that we have seen from Russia since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine over a year ago,” U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said upon hearing about the movement of the nuclear weapons to Belarus.
He added, “I will just add we have seen no reason to adjust our strategic nuclear posture or any indications that Russia is preparing to use a nuclear weapon”.
