SEOUL - During the week United States and South Korea carried out a joint combined live-fire exercise in waters off the Korean Peninsula’s west coast simulating precision strikes against incoming North Korean missiles and long-range artillery.
The military exercises were carried out following a press release by North Korean state media showing the country’s leader Kim Jong Un participating in a training match between the country’s tank units on Wednesday.
North Korean state media called the tanks “the most powerful tanks in the world” and showed the North Korean leader himself driving a tank during the exercises.
The KCNA statement said that, “He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the new-type main battle tank successfully demonstrated its very excellent striking power and maneuverability, displaying its amazing militant performance for the first time in the tankmen's match”.
