US Ready, Postured to Defend Israel if Needed, Protect American Forces, Assets
The Pentagon has reiterated the “ironclad” resolve of the United States to defend Israel in the event of an attack.
PENTAGON - Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said today that the United States stands ready and postured in the Middle East, to come to Israel’s defense if necessary, as Jerusalem waits for an expected attack by Iran and its proxies.
He added that U.S. Central Command also continues to monitor the situation in the Middle East, and U.S. naval and air forces are “postured to support the defense of Israel and protect U.S. troops and assets in the region”.
During two phone calls this week with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III reiterated the “ironclad” resolve of the United States to defend Israel in the event of an attack.
