U.S. Embassy Orders Evacuation in Burundi Amid Escalating DRC Border Conflict and ADF Beheading Of 70 Christians
The Christians, who were reported to have been from the Lubero district, were initially captured by ADF rebels on February 13th early in the morning.
AFRICA/DRC - The U.S. Embassy in Burundi has ordered the departure of family members and authorized the departure of non-emergency U.S. government employees in Mission Burundi due to the conflict along the borders between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Rwanda, and Burundi.

The Christians, who were reported to have been from the Lubero district, were initially captured by ADF rebels on February 13th early in the morning. They were taken hostage, transported to Kasanga, tied up, and then all 70 hostages were beheaded.
Vianney Vitswamba, coordinator of a local community protection committee, was cited by the Global Fight Against Terrorism Funding Organization (GFATF) as stating that, "70 bodies were discovered in the church. They were [found] tied up."
