US Carries Out Strikes Against Kataib Hezbollah In Response To Attacks By Group Over Weekend, Pentagon Addresses Recent Strikes
The Pentagon also expounded on strikes carried out at midnight on January 22nd against Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen, targeting air defense systems, radars, and weapons storage facilities.
PENTAGON/CENTCOM - U.S. Central Command has reported that it has carried out strikes in Iraq against three facilities used by the Iranian-backed Kataib Hezbollah militia group and other Iran-affiliated groups in Iraq on January 23rd.
The strikes were authorized by U.S. President Joe Biden, according to the Department of Defense which says that Washington will not hesitate to take action to defend U.S. interests, but does not seek to escalate the conflict in the region.
