US Carries Out Additional Strikes Against Houthi Missiles, UAV In Yemen As Centcom Region Facing "Volatile Security Situation"
The U.S. military will also be building a temporary port in Gaza in order to facilitate aid to displaced Palestinians as Israel targets Hamas terrorist elements throughout the Strip.
YEMEN - U.S. Central Command has reported carrying out self-defense strikes against four mobile Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles and one Houthi drone as the CENTCOM command says the central region "faces its most volatile security situation in the past half century".
During his State of the Union address, U.S. President Joe Biden said that the U.S. military will be building a temporary port in Gaza in order to facilitate aid to displaced Palestinians as Israel targets Hamas terrorist elements throughout the Strip.
Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee Army Gen. Michael E. Kurilla, commander of CENTCOM said "This is not the same central region as last year".
"The convergence of crisis and competition make [the Centcom area of responsibility] the most likely region to produce threats against the U.S. homeland, trigger a regional conflict and derail the national defense strategy," he added.
He also said that the situation in Gaza has created the conditions for malign actors to sow instability throughout the region and beyond and added that Iran has seen the situation in Gaza as a once in a generation opportunity to reshape the Middle East using its proxies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank and Yemen.
