SOMALIA - Two U.S. Navy SEALs who went missing off the coast of Somalia after carrying out an interdiction “boarding” mission at night have been declared dead after an exhaustive 10-day search, according to U.S. Central Command.
According to the U.S. Air Force, an interdiction is designed to “air operations conducted to divert, disrupt, delay, or destroy the enemy’s military surface capabilities before they can be brought to bear effectively against friendly forces, or to otherwise achieve objectives that are conducted at such distances from friendly forces that detailed integration of each air mission with the fire and movement of friendly forces is not required”.
