Temporary Gaza Aid Pier Mission Ended After 20 Million LBS Of Aid Delivered
The pier was projected by the Pentagon in April to cost around $320 million and was reduced by $90 million by the Pentagon in early June to $230 million.
WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has announced that the Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore or JLOTS pier will no longer be used for transporting aid to Gaza after it said the temporary pier transported 20 million pounds of aid to the Strip in a “cost-effective manner”. It also added that land-routes are the most effective and efficient way to get aid into Gaza.
The pier was projected by the Pentagon in April to cost around $320 million and was reduced by $90 million by the Pentagon in early June. Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said on June 5th that the pier cost approximately $230 million, and included “some” of the costs for repairing and rebuilding it after being damaged by rough seas.
