Swedish Defense Ministry: Russia Attack On Sweden Cannot Be Ruled Out
"An armed attack against Sweden cannot be ruled out. It also cannot be ruled out that military means of force or further threats of such may be used against Sweden".
STOCKHOLM [Report based on a translation from Swedish] - The Swedish Defense Ministry says that an attack on Sweden cannot be ruled out and that even though Russia is currently fighting Ukraine, there is a capability for operations against Sweden.
The conclusions that were reached were included in the Defense Ministry’s “Allvarstid” report, according to a translated report by the Swedish news agency SVT.
The Swedish news agency said that the Allvarstid report’s origination comes from the “preparedness years” of 1939 to 1945 during the time that Sweden was under a similar security threat as it currently faces today.
SVT said that the security policy analysis is based on the same letter as another analysis that was published 5 years ago that said, "An armed attack against Sweden cannot be ruled out. It also cannot be ruled out that military means of force or further threats of such may be used against Sweden”.

It also said that it is generally viewed in the preparation that it is now urgent, and the report will “send signals” that now it is “serious time” regarding the country’s “total defense”.
