Saudi Arabia Following Military Escalation In Yemen "With Great concern", Denies Involvement In Attack By Israel On Port
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the strikes on Yemen were a “direct response” to the Houthi attack on Tel Aviv on Friday.
ISRAEL/YEMEN - A day after one person was killed and around a dozen injured after a Houthi drone strike hit Tel Aviv near the U.S. Embassy, Israeli fighter jets struck Houthi locations in the Yemen port city of Al Hudaydah, which the Houthi Ministry of Health in Sanaa claim killed 3 and wounded least 87 people.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the strikes on Yemen were a “direct response” to the Houthi attack on Tel Aviv on Friday.
Netanyahu said during a news briefing, “The port we attacked is not an innocent port. It was used for military purposes, it was used as an entry point for deadly weapons supplied to the Houthis by Iran”.
Houthi Spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam called the attack a “blatant Israeli aggression” and said that targeted fuel storage facilities and a power station, adding a claim that the purpose of the attacks were, “to increase the suffering of the people and to pressure Yemen to stop supporting Gaza”.
The Israeli military confirmed that it had struck Hezbollah weapons storage facilities, with its Air Force stating it, "struck two Hezbollah weapons storage facilities in southern Lebanon, containing rockets and additional weaponry”.
Shortly after the strike in Yemen by Israel using U.S.-manufactured F-15 and F-35 fighter jets, the Israeli military reported that it shot down a Houthi missile fired from Yemen.
