MOSCOW/TEHRAN - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko announced during an interview with Russian state media that Moscow and Tehran have agreed upon a "comprehensive strategic partnership" which he says will cover defense and security.
"Concerning the contents of the mentioned founding document, I would elect not to disclose details earlier. I would only note it will meet challenges and requirements of our time and cover almost all current and promising spheres of Russian-Iranian cooperation, including defense and security," Rudenko stated.
"The nature of interaction changed notably over the past two decades, with absolute different dynamics and quality obtained. The regional situation has not become simpler also. We are closely coordinating approaches with our Iranian friends and take necessary measures to strengthen peace and security."
Iran Planning "Various Strategies" To Respond To Israel's Attack On October 26th
Additionally, senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Larijani said during an interview with the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim that Iran is preparing to respond to Israel's retaliatory attack on Tehran on October 26th in response to an attack by Iran on Israel with around 200 ballistic missiles.
Iran had vowed that it would be responding to Israel's airstrikes on the country, which Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu said hit a component of Tehran's nuclear program.
“There is a specific component in their nuclear program that was hit in this attack,” Netanyahu said after the attacks were carried out adding, “The program itself and its ability to operate here have not yet been thwarted".
During an interview with Tasnim, Ali Larijani said "Military officials are planning various strategies to respond to Israel".
During an interview on Sunday, Larijani said, "Israel was counting on the United States' support when planning its operation against Iran, with many US resources and aircraft operating in the region to assist them".
He added, "It can be said with certainty that the Americans are orchestrating events here. But why are they doing this? Because they prefer to engage in a "shadow war," staying out of sight while pushing others into the forefront".
"It seems that the United States and its current leadership, which has undergone changes, need to gain a proper understanding of the situation. The officials of the Zionist regime (Israel) are drowning themselves and dragging the Americans down with them, tarnishing the US's reputation in the region."
