Pentagon Addresses Ceasefire Between Israel, Lebanon, Drones Spotted Flying Over British Bases Used By American Forces, Shift Policy On Long-Range Missiles Given To Ukraine
According to the Pentagon, citing Lebanese officials the conflict between Israel and the Iranian proxy Hezbollah has killed “approximately 3,800 people and wounded about 16,000”.
ISRAEL/LEBANON - The Pentagon has announced a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been reached, and says it could lead to a cessation of attacks by the Hezbollah on Israel, and “phased withdrawal” of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon, basing the information on “new reports” and adding that the U.S. Defense Department will be playing a role in the ceasefire.
According to the Pentagon, citing Lebanese officials the conflict between Israel and the Iranian proxy Hezbollah has killed “approximately 3,800 people and wounded about 16,000”.
The “DOD has worked tirelessly with interagency partners and international allies and friends to end the conflict in the region,” a Pentagon statement said.
Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder was also asked during a press briefing at the Pentagon today about the drones flying over British bases used by U.S. forces and responded by saying, “none of the incursions has impacted base residents or the missions of the units on those bases”.
Ryder also addressed the “shift in policy” allowing Ukraine to use American-provided long-range weaponry such as the MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) to target locations within Russia, and says Ukraine is currently focused on the Kursk region.
