PYONGYANG - North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inspected a cruise missile test on board the country's "Patrol Ship No. 661" Amnok-class corvette, which state media says successfully hit its target without error, as the US and South Korea hold joint exercises.
The statement said that the patrol ship staged a drill launching strategic cruise missiles, "aimed to reconfirm the combat function of the ship and the feature of its missile system and make the seamen skilled at carrying out the attack mission in actual war, the ship rapidly hit the target without even an error".
The KCNA statement also said that the leader advanced the country's policy for "strengthening the Navy for making it an all-round and powerful Juche-based service group with rapidly improved combat efficiency and full modern means of surface and underwater offensive and defensive".
