NORAD/PENTAGON - The top U.S. Northern Command General, Air Force Gen. Gregory M. Guillot has reported that the number of drone incursions into the U.S. southern border likely exceeds 1,000 a month.
The general stated this during testimony on March 14th at the Senate Armed Services Committee posture hearing, adding that while he doesn't know the actual number of incursions per month, "it's in the thousands".
The Pentagon reported that when Guillot was asked about the period of time it takes to reach that number of incursions at the southern border he said, "I would say in probably over a month. We... probably have over 1,000 a month".
Guillot took over as commander of Northcom and the North American Aerospace Defense Command on February 5th and said that he learned the approximate number while speaking with officials at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Justice.
"The number of incursions was something that was alarming to me as I took command last month," he stated.
