Lebanese illegal immigrant Basel Bassel Ebbadi, was caught by the US Border Patrol on March 9th near El Paso, Texas, and was questioned after being detained.
During questioning, he was asked what he was doing in the United States, to which he said "I'm going to try to make a bomb," according to a Border Patrol agent cited by the New York Times which posted a document it says was obtained from the Border Patrol.
During the interview, according to the media documents, he said that he was fleeing Lebanon and the Hezbollah because he "didn't want to kill people" but added that "once you're in, you can never get out".
He later added during a "sworn interview" after he was arrested that he trained in the Hezbollah terrorist organization for seven years and served as an active member within the organization guarding the locations of weaponry for an additional four years.
The man said that during the training period, he was trained on "jihad" and was trained to kill people "that was not Muslim".
Ebbadi had no documentation on him upon entering the United States and said that he was robbed at knifepoint in Costa Rica, the media outlet cited from ICE documents.
He said that he had used a false birthday and name in Sweden and Ecuador where he said that his father lives, and in Panama as recently as this year. His goal, he said was to get to New York and then move to other places within the country.
The Post said that Ebaddi was placed into isolation after he was arrested and referred to the Tactical Terrorism Response Team to be interviewed after making "terrorist threats to personnel".
The outlet cited "internal documents" as saying that he has been marked for deportation, but that it's not clear which country he will be deported back to.
