Israeli Military Increases Alert Status, Is Not Ruling Out Simultaneous Iranian Attack From Syria, Yemen, Iraq

Israeli military official: Despite various reports in foreign media, there is no confirmed information about the exact timing of a response.

JERUSALEM - The Israeli military says it has raised its alert status and says, and that the country's Air Force remains on high alert, adding that it has not ruled out the possibility that Iran may attack from Syria, Yemen, or Iraq rather than attacking from Iran directly.

"The IDF has not ruled out the possibility of an Iranian response from Syria, Yemen, or Iraq, rather than directly from Iran," an Israeli military official was cited as saying by Israeli media.

“The presence of hundreds of American soldiers in Israel operating the THAAD missile defense system underscores the close cooperation between the IDF and US forces stationed here."

The military official added, “Despite various reports in foreign media, there is no confirmed information about the exact timing of a response". 

Israeli Deputy Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Amir Baram also said Israel has strengthened its cooperation with U.S. Central Command to prepare for different possible scenarios.

It was assessed by the IDF that Iran is currently weighing out its options for carrying out retaliatory actions and that security officials believe it possible Iran may target Israeli officials either within Israel or elsewhere outside of the country.

Iran may also be weighing out warnings issued by the United States and testing their limits as U.S. elections near.

“An Iranian attack on Israel could impact the US elections, as Israel is deeply embedded in the political narratives of both Democratic and Republican campaigns,” a military source cited by The Jerusalem Post said.

"This increased vigilance includes daily situational assessments across all branches and divisions of the IDF General Staff, including the Home Front Command," it also reported.
