Iranian state news agency IRNA reported, “After today's meeting of Pakistan's National Security Committee, the members of the country's cabinet agreed with the final decision of the political and military leaders to resume full diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and return the ambassadors of the two countries to each other's capitals”.

It added that an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee of Pakistan was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Anwar ul-Haq Kakar, Pakistan's caretaker prime minister. 

The news agency said that Pakistan decided to resume full-level diplomatic relations with Iran, adding that the ambassadors of Iran and Pakistan will be sent to each other’s capitals soon.
