The United States and Israel have been expecting an attack from Iran in retaliation for an attack that occurred on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria on April 1st, 2024 which killed two top Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) generals and five officers.
U.S. President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that Iran is "threatening to launch a significant attack on Israel," and pledged "ironclad" support for Israel.
Iran has blamed Israel for carrying out the attack, and the United States for supporting Israel, accusing the U.S. of giving Israel the green light to attack the consulate.
