IDF on High Alert for Potential "Extreme" Actions by Iran; Tehran Conducts Military Drill, Alleges US and UK Attacks on Yemen
Iran: Exercise holds "significant importance" due to its proximity to the country's western border, where it said hostile groups have "attempted to pose security threats".
TEHRAN - For the second day, Iran is conducting its large-scale military exercise, named "Great Prophet 19," in the western province of Kermanshah. Meanwhile, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi has placed Israel's military on high alert, as reported by Israeli news agency Walla News, due to potential "extreme" actions from Iran if it decides to lash out at Israel.
Tehran is currently dealing with setbacks in Lebanon and Syria, alongside a collapsing currency and infrastructure issues, including civil unrest.
On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei condemned what he claimed were airstrikes by the United States and Britain on infrastructure located within the province of Sa'ada in Yemen, saying that the actions were a violation of Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to Iran's state-run media.
"American and British warplanes launched fresh offensives against Sa’ada early on Sunday, just days after their aerial bombardment of the western coastal province of Hudaydah," IRNA reported citing Yemen's Houthi-backed Saba news agency as saying three aerial attacks were carried out east of Sa'ada.
