Houthi Mistakenly Targets Tanker Carrying Russian Oil
Ambrey said that the vessel was mistaken due to outdated publicly available information that linked it to the United Kingdom.
Red Sea: After the United Kingdom Marine Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported a missile was fired 90 nautical miles southeast of Aden, Yemen, British maritime security firm Ambrey said that the Houthis mistakenly targeted a tanker carrying Russian oil.
The UKMTO report said that after the missile was fired, it landed in the water between 400 to 500 meters from the vessel, after which three small boats tailed the vessel. There were no damages or injuries reported as a result of the incident.
Ambrey said that the vessel was mistaken due to outdated publicly available information that linked it to the United Kingdom.
"This appeared to be five months old but was still listed as UK-affiliated on a public maritime database," Ambrey’s report on the incident stated.
