French Frigate Shoots Down 2 Drones From Yemen "Headed Straight For It"
The incident occurred on December 9th, around 9:30 (French Time) and then at 11:30 (French Time) 110 kilometers (68 miles) from the Yemen Coast around Al Hudaydah.
YEMEN - The French Armed Forces have reported that one of their Aquitaine-class frigates, the Languedoc (D653) intercepted and shot down two drones that were "headed straight for it", according to a translated statement by the French Armed Forces.
The Languedoc was built via a joint venture between France and Italy through a program that was labeled FREMM. Construction began in 2011, and in 2014 the Languedoc frigate was officially launched.
