Biden Has Decided Response To Attack That Killed American Soldiers In Jordan, Iran Says Targeting Its Territory Would Be "Red Line"
Think tank analysts say they do not believe the United States will directly attack Iran, as Biden says he does not seek to widen the current war in the Middle East.
WASHINGTON - U.S. President Joe Biden says that he has decided how the United States will be responding to the attack by Iranian-backed militants on the U.S. base in Jordan that killed three American soldiers and wounded over 40.
U.S. Central Command has also reported that "Iranian-backed Houthi militants fired one anti-ship cruise missile from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen toward the Red Sea" today.
Biden: Yes To Having Decided A Response, But Doesn’t Want To Broaden Regional War
After he was asked by reporters if he’s decided on a response, Biden said “yes” while exiting the White House on Tuesday, adding that he’s not looking to broaden the current war in the Middle East.
National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said “The president will do what he has to do to protect our troops and our facilities and to look after our national security ... interests in the region," adding that Biden’s response will be a "tiered approach" which will include "potentially multiple actions”.
