$95 Billion Foreign Aid Package Approved. $1 Billion In Security Assistance To Ukraine Announced
The Department of Defense quickly announced a $1 billion security assistance package to Ukraine after the foreign assistance package was approved.
WASHINGTON - U.S. President Joe Biden has approved and signed into law the $95 aid package which includes security assistance to Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel, which Biden says is “directly” in the interest of the United States.
The Department of Defense quickly announced a $1 billion security assistance package to Ukraine after the foreign aid package was approved.
According to the Pentagon, “This announcement is the Biden Administration's fifty-sixth tranche of equipment to be provided from DoD inventories to Ukraine since August 2021”. The capabilities added to the security assistance package to Ukraine include:
Air defense missiles
TOW Missiles
Javelin and AT-4
Artillery rounds
Armored vehicles
Anti-Warmor Mines
Claymore Mines
Night vision devices
Logistics vehicles
Tactical vehicles
Mine-resistant vehicles
Anti-tank weapons
Spare parts
The statement released by the Pentagon said, “This package will surge munitions, weapons, and equipment forward to support Ukraine's ability to defend its frontlines, protect its cities, and counter Russia's continued attacks”.
